My brother, Mark is being treated for melanoma at The James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio. That being said, Mark has made several contacts at The James and we’ve been selected as James Ambassadors. As James Ambassadors we work every day to support, encourage, motivate, and educate the world about cancer. sKeven was founded to encourage prevention, educate and raise funds to find a cure for skin cancer.
The James Ambassadors Society Spring Celebration 2014 was held at the Muirfield Country Club in Dublin, Columbus. The featured speaker was Douglas A. Smith (pictured above). Doug was diagnosed in 2004 with an incurable form of chronic lymphocytic leukemia, he is managing his cancer through a clinical trial at The James. Doug is the author of Happiness: The Art of Dealing with Peace, Confidence and Joy. I just finished reading his book and found it to be very helpful and enjoyable.
CEO, James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Hospital, Michael A. Caligiuri, MD, spoke with us about a unique Drug Development Institute that was created to accelerate cancer drug discovery and development at Ohio State. This resource sharing allows for more collaboration and speed new cancer treatments to patients.
This event gave us more determination to raise more funds and find a cure for skin cancer.
