I came across this story on Channel 6 news this morning; another example of the bond we have in the firefighter community. We go in together and leave no one behind.
COLUMBUS (Kate Murphy) -- More than 250 people in Central Ohio are expected to honor the fallen September 11 Firefighters in Columbus.
These men and women will be climbing the equivalent of 110 stories at Mapfre Stadium; going up and down the stadium steps for 2 hours.
The 110 stories represent the 110 floors of the World Trade Center in New York.
Each person will be wearing the name of a firefighter who has passed away.
Most of those taking part are local firefighters, and they'll be dressed in their full 42-pound gear.
The memorial climb starts at 9:03 A3, when the second plane hit the south tower.
Proceeds go to the FDNY Counseling Unit.
